Cowboys put QB Kellen Moore on season-ending injured list

FRISCO, Texas (AP) The Dallas Cowboys have placed quarterback Kellen Moore on season-ending injured reserve, eliminating the chance for him to return after breaking his right ankle in practice early in training camp.

Moore was expected to be Tony Romo's backup, and now both are out after Romo broke a bone in his back in the preseason against Seattle. The Cowboys haven't said how long Romo will be out, but rookie fourth-round pick Dak Prescott figures to start at least the first few games if healthy.

Dallas got its roster to 75 on Tuesday by keeping rookie linebacker Jaylon Smith on the non-football injury list, sidelining him at least the first six weeks of the season. Smith badly injured his left knee in Notre Dame's Fiesta Bowl loss to Ohio State on New Year's Day.

The Cowboys kept tight end James Hanna, who is battling a knee injury, on the physically unable to perform list. He'll be out the first six weeks at least.

Dallas waived six players, including two on injury settlements. The injured players were defensive back Arjen Colquhoun and linebacker Henoc Muamba. The others were guard Mike McQueen, center Dan Buchholz and receivers Richard Mullaney and Rodney Smith.
