The Dallas Cowboys left the West Coast with their third win of the season on Sunday afternoon, defeating the San Francisco 49ers

The Dallas Cowboys used a good balance of the run and pass without Dez Bryant and two starters of the offensive line to defeat the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers suffered some injuries, including veteran linebacker NaVorro Bowman, to their defense on Sunday and the offense of the Cowboys took full advantage of that. At the time of Bowman’s injury in the third quarter, he had a sack to go along with eight tackles.

This week, the Cowboys didn’t get off to a fast start, trailing 14-0 in the second quarter. That didn’t matter to the visitors with Dallas scoring 14 points of their own in the second quarter off two touchdown passes from Dak Prescott for a 14-14 tie.

San Francisco regained the lead in the third off a Phil Dawson field goal, but a 1-yard run by Ezekiel Elliott late in the third and a field goal by Dan Bailey ended up being enough scoring for the Cowboys to gain the win.

The defense of the Cowboys stepped up in the secondary in the second half, with two big plays from Morris Claiborne, who had an interception that led to points for the Cowboys. Later, he kept the 49ers from converting a fourth down, giving the Cowboys back possession where the offense ran out the clock.

Morris Claiborne, Cowboys — The defensive back had a nice game for Dallas, with six tackles and a very timely interception. When the Cowboys needed a defensive back to step up late, the former first-round pick did so on Sunday.

Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys — For the second consecutive week, Elliott took advantage of the defense he was facing and did what he was drafted to do. Elliott finished with 23 carries for 138 yards, averaging 6.0 yards per carry. Each game, the rookie running back seems to be taking the steps needed.

Jeremy Kerley, 49ers — Another former first-round pick, Kerley played a good game for the home team. He finished with six receptions for 88 yards and one touchdown. His longest reception went for a 33-yard score, then giving the 49ers a 7-0 lead.

The Cowboys (3-1) will have a tougher opponent in Week 5 when they host the Cincinnati Bengals (2-2), a franchise who has reached the playoffs for five straight years. Next for the 49ers (1-3) is a Thursday Night Football game against the Arizona Cardinals (1-3).
