Courtroom sketch artist apologizes to Tom Brady
Courtroom sketch artist Jane Rosenberg has a difficult job, and unfortunately, Wednesday wasn’t her best performance.
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady appeared in federal court as part of a hearing to (hopefully) end the drawn-out Deflategate saga and determine whether or not his four-game suspension will be upheld.
However, Brady either was in rough shape, or Rosenberg didn’t quite capture the 38-year-old’s beauty.
Daniel Victor of The New York Times notes Rosenberg offered an apology to Brady “for not making him as good-looking as he is.”
Additionally, Joseph Swide of Vice Sports caught up with Rosenberg. She cited time pressure and a wide shot as reasons the sketch wasn’t exactly flattering of the veteran quarterback:
“Now, this Tom Brady thing, I did this whole wide shot with a million people in it. And everybody’s focusing on that one little fraction of the whole picture, of Tom Brady. But it’s really a big wide composition. There’s a lot of people and the whole courtroom in it.”
Clearly, Rosenberg had an off day in a high-pressure situation.
On the other hand, she perfectly depicted how many of us feel about Deflategate at this point. You don’t deserve the criticism, Rosenberg, the NFL and NFLPA be should be sorry for putting you in this position.
