Could Dwight Freeney reunite with Bruce Arians in Arizona?

Jermaine Gresham had been linked to a number of teams during free agency, including the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints.

However, perhaps a deciding factor in choosing the Cardinals was his relationship with Carson Palmer, according to Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com.

Gresham and Palmer were former teammates in Cincinnati in 2010 - Gresham's rookie season.

"If you're trying to get a fresh start, and you're trying to prove it on a one-year deal and get something out of it, playing with a quarterback you at least have some familiarity with, I think is a big deal," Urban told Doug and Wolf on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM

Because of this selling point, Urban speculated another free-agent veteran that would make sense in Arizona would be defensive end Dwight Freeney. Bruce Arians was the offensive coordinator/interim coach in 2012 before he moved on to the Cardinals, which was Freeney's last year in Indianapolis.

It's pure speculation at this point, but the connection between Arians and Freeney could be a difference maker.
