Connor Cook's draft slide finally ends in 4th round

Connor Cook's free-fall finally ended on Saturday when the former Michigan State quarterback was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round.

Cook, who was originally projected to be a first- or second-round pick, was taken with the second pick of the fourth round at No. 100 overall. The Raiders traded with Cleveland, giving up their fourth-round pick (No. 114) and fifth-round pick (No. 154) to move up and nab Cook.

While Cook is considered one of the most talented quarterbacks in this year's draft class, teams were reportedly concerned over his apparent character issues and lack of leadership skills, which could account for the drastic slide out of the first three rounds.

During his four seasons (three as a starter) at MSU, Cook started 40 games and broke school records with 71 touchdown passes, 9,194 passing yards and 9,403 yards of total offense. He left Michigan State as the school's winningest starting quarterback with a 34-5 record, including 21-2 in Big Ten regular-season games.

Cook will compete with former Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin as backup to the team's franchise QB Derek Carr.
