Colin Kaepernick wants to be traded from 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers appear to want Colin Kaepernick back in 2016, but that feeling apparently isn't mutual.
Kaepernick's agents have asked the team Thursday to seek a trade, FOX Sports NFL Insider Mike Garafolo confirmed. Kaepernick has been given no assurance he'd be the starter but would instead compete with Blaine Gabbert, Garafolo reported.
This comes just one day after 49ers GM Trent Baalke said he "absolutely" expects Kaepernick to be on the roster next season.
NFL.com initially reported the news.
The team will have to make a decision soon because Kaepernick's $11.9 million salary becomes guaranteed April 1. San Francisco benched the QB in Week 9 in favor of Gabbert.
Kaepernick struggled last season in nine games, completing 59 percent of his passes for 1,615 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions.
