Chris Harris Jr. on Dirty Hit: I Need to See That Cash Fine on Monday

Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. suffered a knee injury on a dirty hit from Tennessee Titans wideout Harry Douglas and wants a ‘cash fine’ soon.

The football was ugly and the scene that occurred was even uglier in NFL Week 14 from Nissan Stadium. As the Tennessee Titans welcomed the Denver Broncos to town for a quietly important game for the playoff race, the tensions were always going to be high. However, that doesn’t mean there’s room for what happened between Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. and Titans receiver Harry Douglas—and the ensuing extracurriculars.

Summarily, while Harris was slowly approaching a play and seeming like he might not even really be a part of it, Douglas took a cheap shot on him. The wideout went low unnecessarily right at the side of Harris’ knee. Harris was injured on the play and left the game. A few plays later, Aqib Talib retaliated and incited a huge brawl that essentially cleared both benches.

It was the dirty hit that rightfully got the most attention. Well, that and the fact that no one got ejected for the hit or the brawl. However, Harris didn’t mince words in speaking about the hit. He took to Twitter after the game and had this to say:

One might note that the Broncos don’t exactly have a sterling reputation when it comes to hits at the knees. However, there’s a difference between a low hit and a dirty cheap shot like Douglas took.

Quite frankly, I’m with Harris on this. He needs to be protected by the league and, since they didn’t do that by ejecting Douglas, there needs to be a fine coming down sooner rather than later. If there’s not and they rule that the hit wasn’t dirty, we must’ve been watching different plays.
