Chip Kelly: La'el Collins not on the Eagles draft board

In just a few days, LSU offensive lineman La'el Collins could be cleared of any wrongdoing involving the mysterious death of a 29-year old pregnant woman who was believed to have a relationship with him at one point. Collins is not currently and has never been a suspect.

The undrafted free agent was originally billed to be selected in the first half of day one. After finishing with the best overall grades in run blocking and pass protection, according to Pro Football Focus, some believed that Collins would be the first offensive lineman selected.

If Collins is cleared, you can expect most of the league to be interested in signing him at his discounted price. Just don't expect one of those teams to be the Eagles.

Chip Kelly is trying to breed a no-nonsense culture, and he explains why he never considered selecting Collins in the draft.

"It wasn't a hard decision, no," Kelly said, according to Bleeding Green Nation. No it was just -- really, I don't think we should be talking about draft picks. I think two people have lost their lives, and I think that's a little bit more important than that. We weren't really thinking about the draft at that point in time with him."

Those who were disappointed in the Eagles' decision to neglect the offensive line in the draft will have to look elsewhere for a post-draft depth signing.
