Chip Kelly kind of explains why DeMarco Murray isn't playing.

Another game, and another week goes by where DeMarco Murray barely gets the ball.

Murray is that Philadelphia Eagles running back that was given $40 million to carry the ball many times for great distances.

How many carries did he get against the Arizona Cardinals? Two. He carried the ball two total times.

So why did Murray only get the ball twice. Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly offered Eliot Shorr-Parks of nj.com an explanation.

"It was a combination of we only had 19 rushes on the entire day," Kelly said. "We need to run the ball more consistently for us to be good on the offensive side of the ball."

Okay, that's a fair explanation as to why the Eagles didn't run the ball all that much. After all, the Eagles found themselves down 37-10 at the beginning of the fourth quarter, and the Eagles had been relatively successful at throwing the ball against the Cardinals defense. But it still doesn't explain why Murray only got 10 percent of the total carries.

Murray, of course, was the offensive player of the year just last season, where he led the league with 392 carries and 1,845 yards.

But Kelly simply doesn't use Murray, and no, it's not because Murray is doing poorly and he's in Kelly's doghouse. Kelly's just not happy about his team's overall performance, but he's not specifically mad at Murray.

"I'm disappointed in everything we are doing from a consistency standpoint," Kelly continued. "I'm not singling out any single player."

So, no, Kelly isn't singling out any of his players.

But he's certainly benching some of them, which is kind of like singling out a player.

So, Kelly, if you are disappointed in what you are doing on a consistent basis, why don't you try something new and not consistent, like giving the ball to your one-year removed number one overall rusher?
