Chiefs place Justin March, Allen Bailey on IR

The Kansas City Chiefs are suddenly making roster moves left and right on Tuesday, including a couple of somewhat depressing ones.

Alright, let’s get right into what is a very busy press release from the Chiefs. As you already know, Kansas City traded Knile Davis to the Green Bay Packers for a conditional late-round pick in 2017. This left the team at 52 players on the active roster.

General manager John Dorsey then placed inside linebacker Justin March-Lillard and defensive end Allen Bailey on the Injured Reserve list, putting them each out for at least eight weeks and possibly the season. Bailey has a shoulder injury and March-Lillard has an unknown issue.

Dorsey then put defensive end Nick Williams on waivers, before signing former San Diego Chargers’ starter Kendall Reyes. If you are keeping track, that leaves four open spots on the active roster.

Dorsey can also add ans subtract, as he filled those spots with the additions of inside linebacker Ramik Wilson and defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches from the practice squad. Dorsey also signed cornerback Terrance Mitchell.

Wow. So what does it all mean? Chris Jones will start in place of Bailey with Reyes and Nunez-Roches getting limited snaps. Wilson will start alongside Derrick Johnson unless you’re a huge believer in Sam Barrington. As for Williams being cut, that’s a mild shock. He has been in the system for a few years and looked like a nice depth option.

As for Mitchell, he played from 2014-15 with the Chicago Bears and then the end of 2015 with the Dallas Cowboys. He has one career interception and has never started a game.
