Chiefs name a winner in their summer-long battle at center

Eric Kush entered training camp as Alex Smith's preferred battery mate.

He exits as a former Kansas City Chief. After a tough summer battle, rookie center Mitch Morse bested Kush -- and the team decided to use Kush's roster spot elsewhere.

Kush lost his grip on the job once training camp began. Head coach Andy Reid swapped Morse in after OTAs and minicamp this spring and the rookie never relinquished the job.

Zach Fulton's emergence made it that much tougher for Kush to stick. Fulton has more positional versatility -- something all coaches are looking for this time of year.

Kush could still be a practice squad candidate with two years under his belt on the team.
