Chicago Bears open training camp with WR Kevin White on PUP

Football is officially back in Chicago as the Bears opened up training camp in Bourbonnais on Thursday.

Not everyone is on the field, though. Wide receiver Kevin White, a first-round selection in this year's draft, is starting camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list with a shin injury, according to the Bears' official website. He figures to be a large part of what the Bears do on offense in 2015, so there's no sense in rushing his recovery.

While almost everyone else practices, White will be working on his cardio, per Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.

"He's fired up," Bears general manager Ryan Pace said, via ChicagoBears.com. "We kind of have to put handcuffs on him right now. We're not playing a game for a long time. We just need to be patient and be progressive with his plan."

In addition to White, second-year quarterback David Fales is also starting camp on the PUP list with an undisclosed illness described as "nothing major" by Pace, according to the team's website.
