Chicago Bears LB Shea McClellin faces make-or-break season in 2015
Shea McClellin has struggled through his first three professional seasons, after the Chicago Bears selected him 19th overall in the 2012 NFL draft. The Bears have tried him at defensive end, tried him at strong-side linebacker and, if this last shift inside in the new 3-4 defense doesn't go well, the team will have run out of potential homes for the former first-round investment, Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio might have a plan to maximize McClellin's impact.
"When he came out of college he was a versatile guy," Fangio told the Tribune. "He played a lot of different positions. Maybe now it's time to lock him down."
McClellin, in turn, is eager for Fangio's fresh ideas.
"Coach Fangio has a proven credibility," McClellin said, per the Tribune. "He puts players in positions to succeed. That's all you can ask for."
Since 2012, McClellin has recorded only 80 tackles and 7.5 sacks for the Bears.
