Check out the video of Malcolm Jenkins'press conference on Wednesday

Safety Malcolm Jenkins doesn’t think that this Sunday’s contest has anything to do with last year’s game.

When safety Malcolm Jenkins intercepted a pass from New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and took it 100 yards in the other direction, he permanently etched himself into the hearts of Philadelphia Eagles fans everywhere. What followed was a long-term deal and the credit that had eluded him for much of his career. This season opened with Jenkins and fellow Eagles starting safety Rodney McLeod as favorites to reach the NFL Pro Bowl. Now, as one of the unquestioned leaders on this team, everyone wants to know what’s on his mind. This past Wednesday, he took time to speak with the Philadelphia media.

When asked about Sunday’s game being a chance for this team to get some revenge against the Detroit Lions, Jenkins said “We’ve moved on from that one..Obviously they put it on us last year, but I think this is a different team, they’re a different team. It’s not one of those games we feel like we need to get revenge”.

The all-pro safety continued, “It’s different personnel, a different scheme. We’re obviously playing real good up front, getting a lot of pressure, stopping the run, so at that point last year, I think we had just come off of Tampa (Bay Buccaneers), giving up a whole bunch of yards running. It was similar there . (We) couldn’t cover the running back last year, couldn’t stop Calvin Johnson, but obviously those matchups are a lot different this year. They don’t have Calvin Johnson. (They have) three really good receivers. One of them is only behind Julio (Jones) in receiving yards, with (Marvin) Jones, so (Matthew) Stafford can throw the ball all over the place.”

As stated, the Eagles last met the Lions last year on Thanksgiving Day. The result was their worst loss of the season as they came out on the wrong end of a 31 point margin. Eagles fans will all be tuned in to see if they get the result they want this time around.
