Chargers add Joey Bosa to the active roster after placing Keenan Allen on IR

For the second straight year, Keenan Allen’s season will end prematurely due to injury.

The San Diego Chargers receiver suffered a significant knee injury in Sunday’s game which was confirmed to be a torn ACL on Monday, per head coach Mike McCoy. Allen has been place on injured reserve, thus ending his 2016 season.

It’s a crushing blow for the Chargers, who are already somewhat thin at wide receiver. It’s even more devastating for Allen, who will now play just nine games in two seasons. In 2015, he was on pace to record 134 catches for 1,450 yards and eight touchdowns but a lacerated kidney landed him on IR.

The Chargers activated Joey Bosa to take Allen’s spot, adding him to the 53-man roster. Bosa has yet to play this season, but now that he's been added to the active roster, that'll likely change in Week 2.
