Cavallari understands Gisele's reaction

Reality television star Kristin Cavallari, who is expecting a baby with Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, has offered lukewarm support to model Gisele Bundchen for passionately defending her quarterback husband Tom Brady, saying it was "cute."

"It's a tricky situation," Cavallari told OK! Magazine at a Fall 2012 fashion show in New York City Monday night. "I definitely think it's cute that she had her man's back, I just think in the sports world you have to be so careful what you say."

"Sports fans are very passionate about the game, and they don't really want to see girlfriends or wives getting involved," she said. "So I can understand [why people were upset], but I don't think Gisele was trying to throw anyone under the bus by her comment."

Following the New England Patriots' 21-17 loss to the New York Giants in the Super Bowl earlier this month, Bundchen ripped into the Patriots' receivers for the failed plays she believed cost her husband a fourth Super Bowl ring.

"My husband cannot [expletive] throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time," Bundchen said as she was leaving Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, responding to taunts from Giants fans. "I can't believe they dropped the ball so many times."

"I think fans were heckling her and it was more for her to say, 'Tom can't do everything,' " Cavallari said. "I think people kind of took it out of context a little bit."

Cavallari, 25, a former star of "The Hills," and Cutler, 28, announced last month they are expecting a baby.
