Carson Wentz says he hasn't heard from Eagles since blockbuster trade

Are the Philadelphia Eagles just holding their cards to the vest or do they have something up their sleeve? After their blockbuster trade earlier this month with the Browns that landed the Eagles the second pick, the consensus was that Philly would take quarterback Carson Wentz after the Rams selected Jared Goff.

But maybe that's not the case. The former North Dakota State quarterback told NJ.com that he hasn't heard from the Eagles since they moved up to the No. 2 pick.

"I have not," Wentz said Wednesday at the NFL Play 60 event in Chicago.

Though he said he hasn’t heard from them, Wentz believes the Eagles are a great fit because the staff has three former quarterbacks.

"That's always helpful," Wentz said. "They've been through it. They know what it takes to be a quarterback in this league and understand the game from your position. That will obviously help the development of whatever quarterback goes there."

So what are the Eagles doing? Do they just want to give Wentz plausible deniability when asked these kinds of questions? Are they trying to defuse the quarterback situation they currently have, with Sam Bradford wanting out since even he's convinced they're going to pick a quarterback? Maybe the Eagles are playing it safe because they don't have total control over which QB will be available at No. 2, with many believing the Rams will take a quarterback with the first pick.

With the draft just a day away, it'll be interesting to see if Philly will shock the football world and maybe further upset its fan base.
