Carson Wentz and the Eagles had a disastrous opening 6 minutes against the Giants
Carson Wentz entered Week 9 with just three interceptions in his first seven NFL games, but the rookie quarterback (along with the Eagles secondary) had a nightmarish start to Sunday's game against the Giants in MetLife Stadium.
In less six minutes to start the first quarter, Wentz threw two interceptions that the Giants turned into 14 points to take a commanding early lead.
The Eagles defense opened the game by forcing a Giants punt with a three-and-out, but Wentz's second pass of the game was picked off by Landon Collins and returned to the Eagles' 31-yard line. Wentz was forced to roll to his right and fired a ball well over the head of his receiver, setting up Collins for an easy catch. Two plays later, Eli Manning found Odell Beckham Jr. for a touchdown.
On the Eagles' next drive, Wentz overthrew a deep ball down the middle of the field into an area with multiple defenders, and Andrew Adams made a 19-yard interception return to give the Giants' offense another short field. Roger Lewis then blew past the Eagles secondary for an easy grab to take a two-touchdown lead.
