Cards' Stanton has surgery for infection, may be done for year

The Arizona Cardinals' situation at quarterback has become even more complicated.

Quarterback Drew Stanton had arthroscopic surgery Wednesday to fight a knee infection and he might be done for the season, FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo confirmed Friday.

The NFL Network was the first to report the news.

Stanton's infection was discovered Wednesday and it's believed to have been caused by an outside medical treatment, according to the report. Stanton suffered a knee injury during the Cardinals' 12-6 win over the St. Louis Rams in Week 15.

Ryan Lindley is expected to start in the season finale against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, according to reports. The Cardinals lost their starting quarterback, Carson Palmer, in Week 10 to a season-ending knee injury.
