Cam Newton storms out of his Super Bowl press conference

Cam Newton was clearly dejected after the Panthers' 24-10 Super Bowl 50 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

Newton met with the media gathered at Levi's Stadium at Santa Clara, Calif., after the game, and offered up answers as brief as the questions were long, sometimes giving just one word in reply.

Among the NFL MVP's more detailed answers:

"They made more plays than us and that's what it comes down to. We had our opportunities and it was nothing special that they did. We dropped balls. We turned the ball over. We gave up sacks. We threw errant passes. That's it."

And then that was it. After just three minutes with the media, Newton walked out.

Looking at the numbers, it's easy to understand why Newton didn't want to spend much time talking about what happened on the field:

● After accounting for 45 regular-season touchdowns and another five more in two playoff games, the fifth-year quarterback failed to produce a TD running or throwing for the first time this season.

● He was sacked a Super Bowl record-tying seven times.

● His fumble in the first quarter was recovered in the end zone by the Broncos' Malik Jackson for the game's first touchdown.

● The man who caused the fumble, outside linebacker Von Miller, was named the game's MVP. Oh, he was also taken one pick after Newton in the 2011 Draft.

In all, Newton completed 18 of 41 passes for 265 yards and an interception through the air, with another 45 yards rushing -- though more than half of those came on back-to-back carries in the second quarter.

"This is one those things that is going to hurt," Panthers head coach Ron Rivera told the media of Newton, before adding, "It's going to hurt everybody for a while and hopefully after a few days we will get over it."
