Bucs sign 4th-round pick Williams to 4-year deal

Fourth-round draft pick Mike Williams has signed a four-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The team announced the deal Friday.

The wide receiver had 60 receptions for 837 yards and 10 touchdowns for Syracuse as a sophomore in 2007. He missed the 2008 season after being caught cheating on an exam. He made 49 catches for 746 yards and six touchdowns last season, when another off-field issue led to him leaving the team with three games remaining.

He finished his college career with 20 TD receptions, tied with Marvin Harrison for second on Syracuse's all-time list.

The Bucs took him with the 101st selection in April's draft.

Tampa Bay also released guard Michael Shumard.
