Browns fans launch 'Fail for Cardale' campaign

The 2015 college football season is only one week old, but that’s enough for fans of one long-suffering NFL team to find a new object of affection.

Ohio State dominated the second half of its 42-24 season-opening victory over Virginia Tech on Monday night, and while Braxton Miller caused everyone’s jaws to drop with a dazzling spin move, it was Cardale Jones that Browns fans were fixated on.

Jones, making just his fourth career start after helping the Buckeyes to the national championship earlier this year, completed 9 of 18 passes for 186 yards with two touchdowns and one interception against the Hokies. He also rushed 13 times for 99 yards and another score. With the Browns not having the most stable of quarterback situations, the hashtag #FailForCardale became a thing on social media.

Newcomer Josh McCown is slated to start Week 1 for the Browns with Johnny Manziel behind him. On Monday, Cleveland signed Austin Davis, who was released by the Rams.

The Browns have been searching for a franchise quarterback seemingly forever. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear one is on their roster, unless you're a believer in this man. From that standpoint, it’s tough to be mad at Browns fans hoping Jones makes the trip from Columbus to Cleveland by way of the NFL Draft.
