Broncos keeping their stars surprisingly fresh for a playoff run

Denver's defense is off to a once-in-a-decade type start through two games.

They're achieving the improbable -- and including more than 11 players in the process. According to ESPN's Jeff Legwold, the team has played 17 defenders for more than 23 percent of its snaps.

That rate is up since last year in a clear prepare young players for a potential playoff push.

“I think it will keep guys fresh," linebacker DeMarcus Ware told Legwold. “We have guys that will go in there and do the job. It’s about making plays now and making plays in November, December and January, all the way through."

There's even room for rotation in Denver's vaunted secondary. No player -- not T.J. Ward or Chris Harris Jr. or Aqib Talib -- has tallied more than 43 percent of the total snaps.

“Everybody can play," Harris said. “If you’re in there, everybody expects you to get it done. That’s our approach."
