Brandin Cooks Spreads His Wings for 98-yard Touchdown (Video)

The New Orleans Saints passing offense is exciting, but you probably didn’t need me to tell you that. Brandin Cooks did the talking for them.

No, if you’ve been watching today’s game against the Oakland Raiders, you know just how electric Drew Brees’s current band of pass-catchers can be. Rookie Michael Thomas looks as-advertised, 2015 breakout player Willie Snead might be even better in his second season as a starter, and third-year pro Brandin Cooks is on his way to being one of the most scintillating playmakers in the entire league.

If you still aren’t convinced, just look at his high-flying 98-yard touchdown against the Raiders. Oakland thought they had Brees pinned back into his own end zone, but they didn’t account for Cooks’s speed, who took a pass dinked over the cornerback and turned it into a long catch-and-run for six.

Cooks now has two touchdown receptions today with 143 yards on six receptions in total. Raiders second-year wide receiver Amari Cooper has been impressive with nearly 100 receiving yards of his own, but Cooks has come in to steal the show here in the Bayou.

As of right now, the Saints are up on the Raiders 24-10, and future Hall of Fame signal-caller Brees is already up over 300 yards of passing with three touchdowns, no interceptions, and a whopping 11.4 yards per attempt.

I’m sure Brees, Cooks, and the Saints aren’t done yet, especially since there is plenty of time in the second half for Derek Carr and the Raiders to close that two-touchdown gap.

Cooks and Cooper lead the game with nine targets apiece and are doing fantasy owners a whole lot of good so far.
