Bleacher Report's Matt Miller Mocks Quarterback Mitch Trubisky to 49ers in Round 1 of 2017 NFL Draft
Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller released his first post-Super Bowl mock on Monday, and he has North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky going to the San Francisco 49ers at No. 2 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.
The San Francisco 49ers need a quarterback, and the 2017 NFL Draft is likely the spot where they’ll get one.
And according to Bleacher Report draft analyst Matt Miller, North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky is the guy.
Miller recently released his first post-Super Bowl mock and tabs Trubisky to the Niners at No. 2 in Round 1.

Here’s what Miller had to say about the pick:
Miller also noted the Niners could make a move via free agency or a trade, likely aiming for Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins or New England Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
San Francisco’s new general manager/head coach tandem of John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan will be looking for more than one quarterback though. With Colin Kaepernick set to opt out, per various reports, the team has presumably zero signal-callers on its roster.
But, as Miller noted, the value at No. 2 simply isn’t there.
Trubisky is a mid-first rounder at best. Heck, most of the QBs in this year’s draft class aren’t projected within the top five.
So the best course of action might be for Lynch to trade down in Round 1, securing more picks in the process and adding a quarterback later. Perhaps even early in Round 2.
One of those picks could still be Trubisky, but San Francisco shouldn’t force itself into being desperate.
