Bills WR Sammy Watkins wants wins over targets
Following the Buffalo Bills' latest loss at the hands of the New England Patriots, wide receiver Sammy Watkins backtracked on his previous comments of wanting the ball more.
Last month, Watkins came out and said he wanted the ball more, and that the Bills were making him "look bad" by not targeting him nearly as often as he'd like them to. On Tuesday, he changed course.
"It’s not about getting targets, it’s about winning," he said after the game.
Watkins caught just three passes for 39 yards against the Patriots, largely due to Malcolm Butler's outstanding coverage throughout the game. Watkins was noticeably frustrated by Tyrod Taylor's missed throws, but he didn't make a fuss or confront him.
On the season, Watkins has caught just 25 passes for 368 yards and three touchdowns, while missing three games in the process. Coming off of a great rookie campaign, Watkins certainly hasn't met his expectations. Now that he and Taylor have had time to get familiar with each other, they should be able to get on the same page and close out the season on a high note.
