Bills' Sammy Watkins out Sunday, 'major concern' about rest of season

Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Patriots with a foot injury, and there is “major concern” about his availability going forward, coach Rex Ryan said Friday.

Watkins has not seen the field since Week 2, where he battled through pain to play in a loss to the Jets. He did not practice all week, and insisted that his foot, which was surgically repaired over the off-season, was simply tired and needed rest.

The 23-year-old caught 60 passes for 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games last season. He has not looked the same in 2016, totaling just six receptions for 63 yards.
