Bill Belichick: FS Duron Harmon's range is 'really outstanding'

The New England Patriots' Week 1 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers was much more decisive than the scoreboard indicated thanks to a late touchdown from Ben Roethlisberger. The final score ended up being 28-21, but it was all Patriots for much of the game.

One play that helped seal the victory was Duron Harmon's interception in the fourth quarter. Harmon was playing the middle of the field when Roethlisberger took a shot deep down the left sideline for Darrius Heyward-Bey. Harmon ranged from his center field position to make the interception and seal the win.

Bill Belichick was unsurprisingly pleased and impressed by Harmon's play and raved about his performance on Thursday.

"As [Ben] Roethlisberger releases the ball, Duron is still inside the hash mark," Belichick said in his weekly breakdown, via Mike Reiss of ESPN. "His range to be able to get over the top of this is really outstanding. That's very valuable for the defense."

Harmon is often viewed as the third safety for the Patriots behind starters Devin McCourty and Patrick Chung. But with his ability to man the middle of the field, Harmon has found himself on the field often of late.

With Belichick's confidence on his side, Harmon figures to see plenty of time in sub-packages for the Patriots.
