Bigger-looking Scott Crichton could be do-it-all DL for Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman Scott Crichton has taken snaps at both tackle and end at the team's OTA workouts and minicamp this offseason. Master Tesfatsion of the Star-Tribune described a swollen physique to go along with Crichton's growing role in the Vikings defense.
Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards has made good use of the redefined, second-year lineman.
"We've been working him in all offseason in different packages and different positions to see his skillset," Edwards said about Crichton, per the Star-Tribune. "As we get into training camp, we’ll see how it goes and how he works through camp."
Crichton, a third-round selection in the 2014 NFL draft, played eight games as a rookie, recording only two tackles. However, heading into 2015, the experience at multiple positions is allowing him to play more naturally, Edwards told the Star-Tribune.
"The one thing we really liked about him coming out was just how hard he played, the effort he played with and that’s transferred now," Edwards said, per the Star-Tribune. "He’s played outside at defensive end, inside at tackle. Now he’s not thinking about his assignments. He’s really lining up and being able to play all out."
