Bengals' Sanu not dropping the ball this year

The next dropped pass for Bengals receiver Mohamed Sanu in 2015 will be his first.

Sanu, who was among the league leaders in drops last season, is one of five receivers with 35-plus targets this season who have yet to drop a pass, according to Pro Football Focus.

Despite the surer hands, Sanu has seen a big drop in production this season due to the return of Marvin Jones and Tyler Eifert. Sanu has just 25 catches for 327 yards after setting career highs with 56 receptions, 790 yards and 5 touchdowns last season.

"Last year he played a ton of plays because we had so many guys injured," said offensive coordinator Hue Jackson via the Cincinnati Enquirer. "And so last year his role changed a lot. His role was different. And again, I’m frustrated for him because he’s one of our better players who sometimes doesn’t get all the accolades that he deserves because it hadn’t gone his way. But at the same time, when we throw it to him, he catches it."

Jackson praised Sanu for other aspects of his game, including a crushing block against St. Louis cornerback Janoris Jenkins last Sunday that helped spring Marvin Jones 30 yards on a reverse. Jackson is expecting Sanu to have a "monster game" very soon.

"I know it’s coming," Jackson said. "You just never know when it’s going to happen, but it’s going to happen because he’s been very steadfast and working hard and doing what he’s supposed to do.
