Bears set a new record at Soldier Field and it's not a good one
The Chicago Bears have a rich history of defensive excellence, but the page detailing Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals should be ripped out of the franchise record books.
The Bears were dismantled, 48-23, at Soldier Field, as the visiting Cardinals poured on the points. Arizona's 48 points were the most Chicago has ever allowed at home in franchise history, according to Bears senior writer Larry Mayer.
The Cardinals scored in every way imaginable, including a 108-yard kick return and a 26-yard interception return, but Carson Palmer to Larry Fitzgerald was Arizona's most lethal scoring connection. Palmer found Fitzgerald for three touchdown strikes (eight, nine and 28 yards out).
It'll take a while for Soldier Field to forget such a historically terrible loss.
