Bears release DE Grant

The Chicago Bears released defensive end Charles Grant two weeks after signing him to a one-year deal.

Grant was brought in when the Bears terminated Mark Anderson's contract, but he was inactive against Carolina and Seattle before being let go on Tuesday.

He was also cut by the Saints in March and released by the Miami Dolphins before playing two games with Omaha in the United States Football League. Grant started 16 games for the Saints last season before an arm injury forced him to miss the playoffs.

Taking his place on the Bears' active roster was rookie defensive end Barry Turner, who was promoted from the practice squad.
