Bears lose Ratliff, Goldman to injury during Bengals game
The Chicago Bears lost their top two nose tackles to injuries during their preseason loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday.
Veteran Jeremiah Ratliff went to the locker room early and came back wearing a walking boot, but Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports that X-rays showed no fracture. He also reported that second-round rookie Eddie Goldman suffered a concussion.
Goldman was expected to start at nose tackle while Ratliff serves his three-game suspension, but this injury complicates that plan. If his concussion symptoms spill into the regular season, second-year pro Will Sutton may step in at nose tackle.
Both Goldman and Ratliff started the preseason game versus the Bengals, with Goldman lining up at nose tackle and Ratliff bumping over to defensive end.
