Baltimore Ravens: The Keys To Beating The Steelers

The Baltimore Ravens Need To Beat The Pittsburgh Steelers, but what is the key to victory?

It’s Steelers week here in Baltimore and you know what that means? A nail-biter that comes down to the last few minutes of the game. The Steelers and Ravens rivalry is always a tough match up.  Ben Roethlisberger might play this week and would help the Steelers tremendously. If he does play, how do you think he’ll do against a Dean Pees defense? Will he be able to move around in the pocket like he normally does or will his injury prevent him from being mobile? These are all questions that we need to answer.

For the Baltimore Ravens, the key(s) to beat the Steelers isn’t easy to pick. I’ve decided to pick more than one key for the Ravens.  The first key is to stop Le’veon Bell. Bell is a duel threat so the Ravens needs to beware of his skills as a runner and a receiver out of the backfield. At any moment Bell can take it to the house. The Ravens run defense is ranked fourth in the NFL, so they really just need to keep doing what they’ve been doing in run defense.

The second key is to keep the talented Steelers wide receivers in check. Antonio Brown seems to always have great games against the Ravens so the defense needs to play aggressively against him. The Ravens have to prepare like Roethlisberger is going to play. If he plays it’s a much different game. If he has all day to throw, then he will be throwing the ball all over the Ravens defense.

The third key to beat the Steelers, is the offensive line play. Joe Flacco needs time to pass, if not, it will be another long day for the Ravens. The bye week came at a great time for the Ravens. Most of the injured players should be back in time, especially Ronnie Stanley and Marshall Yanda. The fourth key for the Ravens is

The fourth key for the Ravens is balance. To keep the Steelers from predicting what the Ravens are doing, they need to run the ball as much as they pass it. It’s not going to be easy against a tough defense like the Steelers, but you have to keep them off balance. If they know it’ll be a pass on almost  every down, they will be blitzing and the Ravens offensive line isn’t that good at pass protection.

It should be another fantastic football game between the Steelers and the Ravens if Ben Roethlisberger plays. If he doesn’t, it might not be all that close with Landry Jones at QB. That being said, the Ravens are not known for making it easy so we’ll see. Hopefully the Ravens can right the ship and gain some momentum to start the second half of the season.
