"Bad Blood" between the Dolphins' Kiko Alonso and 49ers' Kaepernick

The San Francisco 49ers Colin Kaepernick has created much controversy this season, most recently with comments regarding former Cuban Dictator Fidel Castro. Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso didn’t hold back his personal feelings of “bad blood” with Kap.

Colin Kaepernick has earned his fair share of praise this season for standing up by kneeling during the National Anthem. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback has helped raise awareness for a number of issues he believes in, not the least of which being Black Lives Matter.

Kap has also made his fair share of enemies. This past Sunday, Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso was one of them.

Kaepernick made comments to the media in the week prior to the game that appeared to support Fidel Castro, the recently deceased ex-Cuban leader. In case you somehow were unaware, the United States and Cuba have not had the closest relationship since Castro spearheaded a revolution on the Caribbean island. Castro has been accused of significant oppression of the Cuban people.

Alonso, who’s father immigrated from Cuba, was in on the final tackle of the game, stopping Kaepernick two yards shy of potentially tying the game. After the game he told the Miami Herald that “There was some bad blood there for me with Kaepernick,”

There was some T-Swift bad blood indeed. Whatever you think of Kaepernick’s statements and positions, from Alonso’s perspective this, at least, must have been crossing a line.

Alonso must have enjoyed that last tackle.
