Alshon Jeffery On Carson Wentz: He's Going To Be a Future MVP

Alshon Jeffery is already making noise for the Philadelphia Eagles, saying that Carson Wentz will be a future MVP.

One of the biggest signings of the new NFL league year on March 9 was the Philadelphia Eagles giving former Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery a one-year, $14 million deal. The signing was a big one for the Eagles because they lacked a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver on their roster.

Philadelphia did sign former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Torrey Smith, and he will help the vertical passing offense, but they still needed that go-to guy. And that is exactly what they get with Jeffery.

He will take the Eagles offense to another level and help the progression of 2016 No. 2 overall pick, quarterback Carson Wentz. The former North Dakota State quarterback did well in his rookie season, but the lack of a legitimate No. 1 target hindered his ability. The addition of Jeffery will give  Wentz a receiver he can trust and someone that will open up the field for the other receivers.

The Jeffery signing will be talked about a lot heading into the 2017 season and Jeffery added to the excitement right when he arrived in the City of Brotherly Love. CSN's John Clark asked Jeffery, fresh off of his plane ride to Philly, why he chose Philadelphia. Jeffery said:

Jeffery was then asked how much Carson Wentz influenced his decision to come to Philadelphia. Smiling, the newest Eagle said:

Bold statement from Jeffery. One thing is clear, Jeffery believes in Wentz and is ready to get to work with his new quarterback. And if he has the positive impact that a player of his talents should, he could very well get Wentz at least on track to winning an MVP down the road.
