Agent: Sidney Rice has hip injury

The agent for Sidney Rice says the receiver has a lingering hip injury but should be ready when the Minnesota Vikings open the regular season against the New Orleans Saints.

Drew Rosenhaus tweeted the update on Thursday. Rosenhaus says Rice ``does not anticipate that this injury will require surgery and he's hopeful that he will be fully healthy for the start of the season.''

Rice had a breakout season catching passes from Brett Favre last year. He caught 83 passes for 1,312 yards and eight touchdowns to help the Vikings reach the NFC championship game. He was also named to his first Pro Bowl in his third season in the league.
