Aaron Rodgers reveals the injury that had him limping vs. the Seahawks

Two years ago, Aaron Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers deep into the playoffs on a strained calf muscle. Following Sunday’s 38-10 victory against the Seattle Seahawks, it appears that if Rodgers can even get his team into the playoffs he’ll have to do it with the same injury.

After completing 18 of 23 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns, Rodgers revealed to FOX’s Erin Andrews why he was limping throughout the game. Already playing with a strained left hamstring, Rodgers said he hurt his right calf on the third play of the game – which happened to be a beautiful rollout pass that turned into a 66-yard touchdown to Davante Adams.

“I hurt my calf on the first third down of the game. Probably just overcompensating on the opposite leg from the hamstring,” Rodgers said. “It’s going to be a long week of rehab, but it’s definitely going to feel good tonight.

“This time of year, I’m not going to miss a game. I’m going to be out there.”

In 2014, Rodgers hurt his left calf in a Week 16 game and was rendered immobile for the rest of Green Bay’s season, which included a Week 17 win and a Divisional Round playoff victory before an overtime loss to the Seahawks in the NFC Championship game.

This season, Rodgers will need to be just as sharp while nursing injuries on both legs to get Green Bay – now 7-6 after three straight wins – into the playoffs. The Packers are two games off the NFC North lead and one game out of the wild-card race with three games remaining in the season.
