49ers vs. Panthers: FanSided's AppTrigger Simulation of Week 2 via Madden 17
FanSided site AppTrigger has been using Madden 17 to simulate upcoming games for the 2016 NFL season and broke down the San Francisco 49ers and their Week 2 matchup versus the Carolina Panthers.
Not surprisingly, the San Francisco 49ers lost to the Carolina Panthers in Week 2.
This is, of course, based off a Madden 17 simulation put in motion by FanSided site, AppTrigger.
AppTrigger is previewing each and every NFL week using the popular video game platform as a prediction machine. Here are the predicted outcomes for Week 2.
You’ll get the idea of how the simulations are generated by clicking the link above. And it shouldn’t come as much of a shock to see the Panthers beat the Niners 24-10.
This score would jive with Odds Shark’s opening line favoring Carolina by 13.5 points.
According to the simulation, the Panthers lead was only 10-7 going into the half. But it was in the third and fourth quarters where things started to fall apart for San Francisco.
OK, so we’re going off computer projections. And I’m not sure there’s enough aggregate data to suggest how accurate these simulations are.
For what it’s worth, AppTrigger’s Week 1 sim had the Los Angeles Rams beating the Niners 24-16.
Madden 17 also can’t account for short weeks, East Coast travel and the fact Carolina has an additional three days’ rest over San Francisco.
But those elements don’t work in the Niners’ favor.

Take from it what you wish, but at least the simulation provides us with a fun prediction machine outside of Vegas lines or NFL pundits looking to beat out fellow coworkers.
And we’ll see if San Francisco can make it 2-0 over Madden 17 predictions placed against the red and gold.
