49ers incorporate virtual reality technology into training

The San Francisco 49ers have become the latest team to partner with STRIVR Labs to incorporate virtual reality training for their football players, FOX Sports has learned. The 49ers deal is a two-year agreement with the VR company that first made national news for its pioneering work with the Stanford football program, as detailed in this FOX Sports story from early March.

"We are pleased to announce our partnership with STRIVR Labs, which we believe will provide another tool to augment our players' preparation," said 49ers GM Trent Baalke. "As all teams do, we are constantly searching for methods to better prepare us for game day. We are confident that STRIVR Labs can provide an advantage."

In addition to helping train their players through the VR technology, the 49ers plan to use it to enhance their fans' experience as well.

Last month, the Dallas Cowboys became the first NFL team to sign on with STRIVR to incorporate virtual reality technology into their players training. Several college teams have also done deals with STRIVR this offseason. Among them: Auburn, Arkansas, Clemson and Vandy.

STRIVR Labs is set to partner with multiple additional NFL and college teams for the 2015 season with those relationships to be announced over the next two to three weeks as training camps get underway.
