49ers' Carlos Hyde already making changes to fit into Chip Kelly's system

49ers running back Carlos Hyde is preparing for Chip Kelly's up-tempo system now, so that training camp won't be too much of a shock to his system. Hyde is working on slimming down and getting into better shape to endure Kelly's fast-pace offense.

"The minute I saw that the 49ers got Chip Kelly, we completely changed his approach to how he trained," David Alexander told the Sacramento Bee. Alexander has been working with Hyde for two seasons.

Alexander has set a target weight for the third-year running back, working toward trimming Hyde's weight from 235 pounds to 220.

The work apparently has already paid off. Alexander said Hyde, who had yet to play a full season since being drafted in 2014, is already below 230 pounds with training camp a few months away. Hyde's 2015 campaign was cut short after he was placed on IR with a foot injury. In seven games, he rushed for 470 yards and three touchdowns.
