2023 NFL odds: 49ers' Christian McCaffrey is new OPOY favorite
There's a new name at the top of the oddsboard to win Offensive Player of the Year, and that's Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers.
Just two weeks ago, McCaffrey's odds to win the award were +150, second to Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
CMC's odds have now shortened to -250, and he's the heavy favorite to take home the hardware.
McCaffrey has 258 carries and 1,395 rushing yards on the season. Both of those are currently best in the NFL. His 14 rushing touchdowns are third in the league.
The former fave, Hill, is now second behind McCaffrey at +175. He suffered an ankle injury in the Dolphins' Week 14 loss to the Tennessee Titans, but he still caught four passes for 61 yards. He's leading the league in receiving with 1,641 yards.
Rounding out the top three, at a long +6000, is Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Let's take a closer look at the odds for OPOY.

*odds as of 12/27/2023
In the last five games alone, McCaffrey has racked up 84 carries, 570 yards and five touchdowns. Over that time span, he's averaging 6.9 yards per carry, with his longest carry being for 72 yards.
With two games left on the Niners' regular-season schedule, he's projected to finish the season with 1,581 yards and 16 touchdowns.
For weeks, the award appeared Hill's to lose, but the aforementioned ankle injury caused him to miss Miami's Week 15 game against the Jets (a 30-0 win for the Dolphins). He was previously on pace to become the first receiver in NFL history to rack up 2,000 receiving yards in a single season. With that, he would have broken Lions legend Calvin Johnson's record of 1,964 receiving yards in a single season.
Now, Hill is on pace for 1,875 receiving yards.
