Young's car stolen on unluckiest of days

Grizzlies guard Sam Young was hoping for better luck Sunday in Memphis' playoff series climax with the Oklahoma City Thunder after a terrible Friday the 13th that saw his car brazenly stolen and him benched in Game 6.

Young's Chevy Camaro was driven off by an opportunist thief Friday morning as the player stepped out of the vehicle to make a withdrawal from a nearby ATM, WMC-TV reported, citing a Memphis police report.

Young made the mistake of leaving the engine running, unwittingly aiding the theft.

But the error was fortunately not too costly, as police used an onboard tracking system to locate the car, which was unoccupied, in the north of the city. The thief remained at large.

Young's day failed to improve Friday, with the starting place he held for the first 11 playoff games given to O.J. Mayo that evening.

But the 25-year-old could at least enjoy the result as the Grizzlies triumphed 95-83 to tie the Western Conference semifinal series 3-3 and force Sunday's decisive Game 7.
