Will Jeff Hornacek leave the Phoenix Suns for Iowa State?
The Chicago Bulls are reportedly inches away from hiring Iowa State's Fred Hoiberg as their new head coach, which means ISU is about to be in desperate need of a coach. Earlier in May there was a report that Phoenix Suns coach, and former ISU great, Jeff Hornacek would be interested if the job was available. On Thursday, Hornacek addressed those rumors on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.
"'I'm the coach of the Suns. It's an interesting coaching carousel that goes on around the league and even down to the college level. So, if those things ever come about and the timing was right, yes, but as far as I know I'm the coach of the Suns.'"
While on paper this doesn't seem to be the must reassuring commitment, it's important to remember that Hornacek is one of the most casual, laid-back coaches in the league, and this type of quote is just par for the course. It's also tough for Hornacek to give an emphatic yes or no because this is the last year of his contract. While the Suns are expected to re-sign him, crazier things have happened.
