Why it would be smart for the Kings to stay away from Rajon Rondo

Rajon Rondo's reputation started to shift once he went to the Dallas Mavericks during the middle of this past season. He went from ultimate team, pass-first player to a malcontent who didn't get along with his teammates or coaches. Now, that may have been true in Boston, but the reputation hadn't yet caught up to him.

Now, few teams seem to be interested in the former All-Star for a high price tag when he hits free agency July 1. The Kings, though, might be one of them. But Kings Scoop says that shouldn't be the case.

Here are three reasons why:

1: Rondo had a difficult time playing under a championship caliber coach in Rick Carlisle. What guarantees us that Rondo will not act up under George Karl? He plays with a sense of entitlement and on a team that lacks leadership, it may hurt Sacramento’s future if they take the risk on signing Rondo.

2: How effective can Rondo actually be on the Kings? Sacramento’s biggest need is shooting and Rondo does everything well except that. He would be a solid floor general and put DeMarcus Cousins in better positions to score but would that really help the Kings take the next step? I don’t think it will.

3: Rondo will demand a high price to sign and after looking at a couple of solid players that would actually improve Sacramento’s odds in making the playoffs, the Kings should be patient in not pulling the trigger on Rondo right off the bat. Lets take a look at the short list:

LaMarcus Aldridge (Portland Trail Blazers), Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio Spurs), Marc Gasol (Memphis Grizzlies), Draymond Green (Golden State Warriors), Kevin Love (Cleveland Cavaliers), Reggie Jackson (Detroit Pistons), Paul Millsap (Atlanta Hawks) and DeAndre Jordan (Los Angeles Clippers).
