Why is Suns C Alex Len practicing three-pointers?

Phoenix Suns center Alex Len has worked all summer on adding a new weapon to his offensive arsenal. No, it's not a drop-step, or a hook shot, or a fadeaway, or anything even remotely close to a post move. Instead, Len has been working on increasing the range on his jumper, specifically out to the three-point line.

Does this make sense for his game? As it relates to the Suns' offense, yes. The Suns want all of their players on the floor to be able to shoot it from any spot. The three-pointer may not be his calling card, but even having reliable range will wreak havoc on defenses.

According to Suns assistant coach Nate Bjorkgren, all of Len's practice is paying off. Here's what he told Greg Esposito of Suns.com:

"'Threes from the wing. Threes from the top. Trailing threes. Pick and pop threes. You name it, we put him through all of it,' Bjorkgren candidly shared. 'He’s knocking down those shots. He’s had days where he’s hit 70 out of a 100. Those are big-time numbers.'"
