What are they teaching in school? Fourth-graders don't know who Michael Jordan is

One of Sports Illustrated's most beloved features is its "Signs of the Apocalypse," a weekly sample of surreality from the sports world. Well, senior writer Phil Taylor has one for the ages.

Taylor tweeted that when he recently spoke to a classroom full of fourth-graders and told them he'd written about Michael Jordan during his 20-year career at SI, the kids looked at him like, "Who?"

That's right. They had no idea who Michael Jordan is. Until their teacher told them he's the guy who makes Air Jordans.

Good lord. Are we all THAT old?

You could give 'em a pass since they weren't even born yet when MJ played his last game in 2003. But ... no.

Kids, do your homework. Here's a good place to start: 11 times Jordan just destroyed people, and the 10 greatest moments from Jordan's MVP seasons.

And if you want a great read from Taylor, here's his story on the cursed 1986 NBA Draft class.
