Wesley Matthews on return to Portland: 'It was amazing'
Wesley Matthews spent the last five seasons as a Portland Trail Blazer, one of the team's grittiest players and a symbol for their two-way tenacity.
He signed with the Dallas Mavericks over the summer, and Tuesday night was his first game back in the Pacific Northwest, in front of the fans who cheered him so loud for so long.
Here's what Matthews had to say about the experience, per The Oregonian:
As he inches his way back from a torn Achilles, Matthews is averaging 11.1 points in 29.5 minutes per game. His shooting percentages are down across the board, but it's miraculous to even see him on the court this soon.
The Trail Blazers should really miss him.
