Watch Russell Westbrook steal the ball and get creative with his fastbreak slam
Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Russell Westbrook knows how to emphatically finish a fast break.
While facing the Phoenix Suns on Sunday, Westbrook stripped an unsuspecting Markieff Morris and darted down the floor uncontested. He got from the opposite 3-point line to the rim in about two seconds -- watch how the Thunder bench rises with anticipation -- and then bam:
The sound at the 0:07 mark as the ball slams into the rim is the closest thing to breaking the sound barrier on a basketball court -- listen to how loud and vicious it is. Westbrook's celebration afterward is just an extension of his visceral knack for athletic creativity.
The dunk looks normal in real time, but slowed down you can see the unique nuances -- bicycle-kicking his left leg back, cuffing the ball to his forearm, it's all stuff that makes Westbrook such a special dunker and player.
