Watch Rajon Rondo pull off the craftiest play of the year
Let's get this out of the way: There's a good chance what Dallas Mavericks point guard Rajon Rondo does on this play is illegal. A jumper can't leave his half of the restraining circle until the ball is tapped, which he clearly does here.
But who cares about "rules" anyway?
This is a majestic combination of anticipation and athleticism. Rondo knows there's about a 4 percent chance he can control a jump ball against Mitch McGary, so instead he steals the tip, and immediately side-arms the ball downstream to a streaking Monta Ellis, who flips it to Chandler Parsons for the easy dunk.
It's brilliant basketball. And Rondo is a magician.
